Retin-A question
Does it make you break out more when you first start using it?

Re: Retin-A question
Yes, for a few months it was NASTY! Like wearing paper bag over my head nasty. But I was also 14 so that might've helped!

Re: Retin-A question
i used it in high school, and if I remember correctly, I broke out a bit at first. The peeling was the worst! Actually, the slight burning of my face was even worse than that.
I wonder if it only hurt because I was younger - -

I found it really didn't work that well. Are you using it for acne? I still get occasional zits now, definitely not as bad as in my teens. My doctor now has me on Duac, which has worked really well for me. The side effects of Retin-A were also bad. The peeling was so bad I couldn't wear makeup.

I worked great for me! I only had to use it for like a year or two - maybe 14 and 15?

You're on Duac? I also get chemical peels every 3 weeks from my dermatologist. The only thing I heard works 100% is accutane, and I would just be too scared to try that.

I don't know the name of the antibiotic.

Re: Retin-A question
If you aren't on Duac (it is a topical cream), try it. It works well! Also try chemical peels--they take off the first layer of skin so clogged pores, etc., get taken off. FM me for more info...My dermatologist is amazing but he's in Bay Shore.

Re: Retin-A question
I used it years ago for acne but I've also used it over the last couple of years for fine lines/sun damage. mY skin is kind of sensitive to begin with and the retinA made it very red- I've now been using something called Kinerase. I know people that were happy with the results from retinA and I think after a few weeks your skin shouldn't be so sensitive to it- just make sure to use a real mild moisturizer like cetaphil or something and be careful in the sun!
