Ok, then lifetime of a vacuum?

Ours is about 7 years old. It's a Kenmore. We have cats.

It has lost suction.

I could take it to Sears and see if they could fit it. Not sure if there is a diagnostic charge to do that. I could replace.

I liked the 20% offer on the Dyson buy many of you say it's not worth the hype.

eta: I took really good care of the Kenmore..but like anything else, things wear out.

I have a kenmore canister vacuum which I love but it is getting old (around 6 years). So what I would do if I was you would bring your vacuum to a private store to fix and buy the dyson too! I was going to buy a dyson but I need a vacuum with a bag.

There's several vacuums that have gotten better reviews than Dysons, and some are under $100, and many are under $150. For that price, I probably wouldn't try to repair your vacuum, since it may cost close to that to repair, depending on the problem.

I was thinking I would try to at least get it looked at and maybe it's a simple fix. But how much just to get it looked at?

I will probably buy another vacuum anyway because I really want two.

I also want a light vac for picking up litter, small messes that come up..instead of schlepping the big vac out every time.

I threw a warranty on my sears vacuum for $50 for 3 years I think....I get it serviced on route 110 at sears.

most people would laugh at warrantying a vacuum. But I have 2 cats, a dog and apparently am very rough on vacuums Chat Icon I've already used it more times than I would like to admit.

Call and see if they will warranty it if you like it and want to keep it as a second vacuum.

Our Dyson lasted 10 years. Could of lasted another 10 if my wife didn't drop it down the staircase.Chat Icon

I had a warranty on it but let it expire. I don't think you're nuts at all.

I let mine expire too. Then they called me months later and I added one again. So it's worth a shot, if you want to try.

Got a Dyson 2 months ago... eh, not in love with it.

I have an old canister vacuum from Sears. It was my mother's.. she gave it to us when we moved into our first apartment.. 11 years ago. She had it for about a dozen or so years before that. It is old and ugly but still works like a dream.
