Will I find out the sex at my next appt?
What typically happens at week 15/16? I saw that some people DO get a sono - some don't...?
What tests are done?
If I DO get a sono, can they tell me if it's a boy or girl?
I'm so excited.

From what I've learned, gender can be determined as early as 17 weeks. The growth sono is usually done around 20 weeks and that's usually when gender is determined.

Some sono techs will make early guesses, others won't until about 20 weeks. And you LO has to cooperate, which mine didn't at all until 25 weeks or so!

We found out at our 12 w u/s this time. With DD, we found out at our anatomy scan at just over 19 w.
I'm 16 w now and this appointment is just with the OB -- weigh-in, pee in a cup, bp, doppler, questions... no u/s. I'm sad.  I wanna see the baby and know he's growing properly!!

They told me they should know at 16 weeks but I get a sono at every appointment. I'm hoping my OB will be able to tell the week before at 15 weeks but I'm not sure.

Depends on your doc....I asked my OB nicely if we could sneak in a sono at 16w to see if she could tell the sex, and she tried but her in-office machine isn't great. So we have to wait until 20w.....OMG, longest wait ever!!
You may just get some bloodwork that follows-up on the NT scan, and then the usual weigh, pee in cup, BP, doppler. Good luck!

We found out through a bloodtest they did to check the babys bloodtype at week 15. Got the results in less than a week. But we also had an ultrasound at 16 weeks and it was confirmed there that we are having a girl. Good luck!

I found out at 20 weeks. There was no sono at the 16-week appt.

I had a sono at 16 weeks this time ( I didnt with my first pregnancy) As soon as we got there, the sono tech asked if we wanted to know. They were able to tell us

i didn't have a sono at my 16w appt. Just my regular check up, took blood and listened to the heart beat

Well when you scheduled your appt at your last visit did they tell you it was a sono appt? My office always tells me what the next appt will be sono or just reg Dr Visit.
Some practices do 2 Anatomy Scans, 16 weeks and 20 weeks where they tell you the sex and check the babys organs...
Other practices only do it at 20 weeks...
