Success w/FET
Hi girls- I havent been posting much on here since my chemical a month ago. I was doing okay for a while and now that AF is here and my FET is nearing, I am just really down
I feel like the success rate w/a FET is so low and that it just wont work. I am being so pessimistic but I just cant help it.
Anyone on here have success with a FET and if so what was your protocol and how many embryos did you transfer?
TIA

Re: Success w/FETT
what makes you think its so low?? based on the doctor/lab, some say that the success rates are nearly the same as a fresh cycle. IMO from what ive read i believe that it's not crazy different. i would def not be pessimistic about it, the rates are still significantly higher than any IUI cycle.

Based on the 30% success rates that my Dr said. I also can't help but feel that since I had a chemical from this batch, who says they're not all a "bad batch?"

Re: Success w/FET
any procedure done with IVF will give you a higher success rate than with an IUI. Also, just because one egg was bad, doesn't mean they are all "rotten" KWIM?

Re: Success w/FET
If your embryos made it to blasts to freeze, you have a pretty good change of the FET working. Likely you have normal embryos!
Any idea why your first cycle didn't work?

Re: Success w/FET
My FET was a success, my m/c had nothing to do with it. My RE actually likes the probability of conception more with a FET rather than a fresh. We transferred 2, and "think" both stuck but I lost one early on, and the one that definitely stuck made it to 5w3d.

Re: Success w/FET
Honestly I've had 3 FET and currently 1 week into the 2ww. If a miracle happens and I get a BFP it will be a success (currently 7dp3dt). My RE claims they are about the same but when I googled I was getting different answers so who knows let u know after my BETA next Wednesday.

Interesting ... Do you know what methods were used to freeze?
The freezing process used at Dr.B's lab makes it so the success rate is the same for a fresh and frozen.
I was under the impression that most labs in the area (since places in this part of the country are cutting edge.. not like in the middle of nowhere) used the same techniques.

Re: Success w/FET
Nycgirl- Dr said the cycle didn't work bc there was most likely a chromosomal abnormality therefore resulting in a chemical.
Pennycat- I'm not sure the freezing method that was used but like you said we don't live in the middle of nowhere so I'm assuming most labs are the same.

How did he figure out there was a chromosomal abnormality? Did your embryos make it to blasts?

Re: Success w/FET
I'm 15w4d from an FET. We transferred two 5-day blasts and 1 took. I did a natural cycle, so we timed it to my own ovulation - no trigger or anything (I was also on Neupogen and Lovenox).
GOOD LUCK!!

in very general terms, chromosomal abnormalities aren't generally accepted as the most common cause of chemicals. it could be a wide range of thrombo, immune, HLA matching, lining, and also possibly chromosomal. however there is absolutely no reason to believe that your chemical was likely chromosomal specifically if your embies made it to blast. theres really no reason to expect your embies to be a "bad batch." if they made it to freee, esp. day 5 freeze, in the first place, they aren't a bad batch. while you may never have a solid explanation for the chemical, there is really no reason to assume its definitely chromosomal.

Re: Success w/FET
I've had 2 fresh cycles and 2 FET's. I've gotten pregnant with one fresh cycle and both FET's. The first we transferred 2 and that resulted in my DS (the other embryo did take & split twice, but all 3 were blighted ovums). The next we transferred 1 and that ended in m/c at 6.5 weeks, but was most likely chromosomal. My recent fresh cycle we transferred only one and as of now I am 22 weeks into the pregnancy.
My RE says that with the new freezing process, FET's are AS GOOD as fresh now. Both FET's I was on estrogen patches and then PIO after the transfer. From CD1 to transfer it was 17 days, much less time that fresh.
Good luck!

Re: Success w/FET
I was the same way as you. I went through a fresh cycle where it resulted in a MC, then went through a FET which was a BFN. My second (and final) FET from that batch I was very pessimist but I got my BFP and my beautiful baby girl!! Good luck to you!

Re: Success w/FET
I'm 15.5 weeks with my first FET. Transferred one 5day blast & it resulted in twins, my RE thinks the embryo split early on. Natural cycle, no medications.
Good luck!

Re: Success w/FET
My is five months next week and was from a 5 day FET. My fresh cycle was a bust and I believe it was because my levels were so high. Next FET was a 3 day and resulted in a BFN. The final one was the 5 day FET and that is the one that worked! Don't give up hope the process is so much easier than a fresh cycle, good luck!
On my cycle that resulted in a BFP we transfered two that were ok quality. I took estrace twice a day and PIO shots.

DD is from a natural FET cycle where we transferred 2 blasts. They definitely can work!
