Dominican Republic
I am considering this for our anniversary in August. I was going to go back to Bermuda, but I think it is too quiet at night. Is DR a place where there are things to do at night? We have traveled all over Carribbean and this is one place we have not been to. Where is the best places to stay?

You have to be more specific when saying "best"
Do you want to spend 10K or 1K? family or adults only?
Best place hands down is Tortuga Bay Hotel but its very $$$$...
Hard Rock is nice but not the best..feels more like a vegas hotel and not on the best beach...
Paradisus Palma Real (not the regular Paradisus Punta Cana) comes to mind...love that place..but its not adults only..
There are few "best" adults only - Zoetry, Sanctuary, Casa de campo..excellence gets good reviews....

We've stayed at the Now Larimar and Majestic Colonial - both were amazing. If I were going back I would stay at the Now. The beach was gorgeous and we had such a good time there.

By "best" I meant what are the top hotels. I guess I would start my way there and see what is in my budget. I am starting my planning from scratch and know nothing about the island and accomodations.
