I hope she sues their pants off and goes elsewhere with her talents. I am sick and tired of the church acting like their officials got the official word from God himself...... IVF isn't in the bible, but God's good will to help other IS. That's what these doctors are doing.

Your faith is about what you believe is the word of God, not what some man says the word of God Should be. I hate them for the same reason.....

this whole article makes me sick.
I was very religious, a Catholic, as a child and as I grew up i became further estranged from my faith. After my marriage, my DH convinced me to gradually go back "the the fold" and we did together. I still question certain aspects of my faith, more specifically, some of the teachings that were created by man and not ever said by Jesus or put into the bible.
I can not, nor will I ever believe that God would punish every single one of us for having to go to such extreme lengths to have a child that we will love, nuture, adore and care for for all of our lives.
I believe, truly, that it is through his power and good will that we will all have our own children to love one day - and that he is helping us to accomplish this through these IF treatments.

What bothers me the most is the ignorance of people especially powerful religious figures. Fertility treatments can definitely be done in a God honoring way. I can't think of anywhere in the Bible the would be against IVF

This whole issue just torments me. It's a real struggle for me (on a personal level and I would never, ever judge anyone nor will it ever be my place to judge anyone) but being a very religious person, the whole fertility issue tears me apart. I'm torn between my faith and my heartbreaking desire to have a child. To really understand the church's point of view, and i'm not saying I completely understand it myself, but it's much deeper than just God's love for children and to be fruitful and multiply. Yes, that's true but the act of conception is distinctly defined and to manufacture or create children in a lab is morally wrong in the eyes of the church as is the destruction of embryos and abortion. The Catholic Church forbids fertility techniques that try to make babies outside of marital intercourse.
Disclaimer: I don't know nearly enough about it to preach or provide any solid information. My statement above is just based on my feelings and thoughts and in no way to effect anyone else. Just wanted to put in my .02 regarding my struggle with human desire to have a child vs. the catholic church.

I see it as science. What if god-forbid you needed cancer treatments, an organ transplant, you cut your finger and needed a cadaver bone...I don't see it any differently then stem cell transplants or facial transplants.
IF is a medical condition that needs medical treatment and I am sick of hearing people make others feel bad about it. I refuse to let it bother me.
And yes raised Catholic - Catholic school and all of that. And I can tel you my parents are SO thrilled I am finally pregnant I basically think they could have cared less how it happened as long as it did.
Plus I believe like 95% of these "preachers" would seek treatment if they were faced with IF.

I am a Christian and have an awesome relationship with God. My church is bible based. We believe and preach the word or God nothing more nothing less. The catholic religion is filled with tradition and man made " rules". For anyone struggling with this bc of their faith just know that Jesus would absolutely be for ivf and fulfilling the desire of your heart to have a child through ivf. Infertility is a disease and ivf helps to treat and heal. It's a true miracle from God. I worship God not man and the harsh judgements that are suppose to be part of following the catholic religion. This whole story is very sad
