What time to get to the airport.
We have a 7am flight on saturday morning to mexico. We are checking 1 bag. Do I really have to get there 2 hours in advance? I have a car picking us up at 4:30am to jfk. I just feel like we are going to be sitting there forever waiting for our flight...

I would. I recently got to the airport 1 hour before a domestic flight (6am) and only made it through security by paying to upgrade my seats

2 hrs for domestic and 3 hrs is recommended for international..
I wouldnt mess with it..bec you have no idea what the lines can be like and if you are not there even before they close the gates..i think it is up to 30 min... they can give your seats away esp if the flight is full

Definitely. The lines can be crazy, even early in the morning. You might have to wait a little bit, but better that than missing your flight!

Yes definitely go early. I hate to be rushing before a trip it feel like it sets a tone for it. Go check in, get a cup of coffee, nap, read whatever but it's so much better to just be there.

I would 100% go early. Early flights are popular because people want to get to their destinations and get the full day out of their trip. It can take a long time to get through security. We usually use curbside and it has still taken us almost an hour to get through security. Better to be really early and get a cup of coffee and some breakfast and take a little walk or read a book then to have a stress attack because you are stuck in line and might miss your flight. Just makes it a more relaxing start to your trip.

I did a similar flight and got there 1.5 hours early. That worked out fine.

Security lines suck these days in the morning, even on weekends. I'd recommend just going early.

went to Dominican Republic and had a 7am flight. We even had the upgraded seats and security was slow!!!!! That is where you spend most of your time.

I would especially because it is a Saturday and that is when airports are busy. We had a 7:30 AM international flight last Wednesday. We had the taxi pick us up at 5:30 and we got there a few minutes to 6 AM. DH convinced me to sleep in a bit because it was a Wednesday. The airport was pretty quiet but I would rather get there early and not stress.
