I flew with Carlie when she was 5 months. I brought lots of her favorite toys.

Re: Flying with baby
Plan it around nap time.... both flights with Mallory she slept almost the entire time she was about the same age too.

Re: Flying with baby
Other than plan around nap time & something for her to suck on (bottle), a portable DVD player was pretty helpful. It's just another new place to them - not thousands of feet in the sky.

Re: Flying with baby
Do not preboard! They always allow people with small children to board before everyone else and I find this to be the worst thing you can do. I wait until the last minute to boead so that Jack can run around etc as long as possible. Otherwise you board the plane first, sit there for about 30 minutes while everyone else boards and by the time you are ready to take off the kids get fussy. So plan to check everything and not worry about overhead compartment space and hang out at the gate as long as possible.

Re: Flying with baby
we just flew to CA with our then 17 month old...I sent my hubby on during the pre-board time with the stroller and I hung with my son and let him run around...I was the last one on. I was sure to change his diapers just before boarding time.
As far as what to bring...lots of little toys to play with, little books to read, and an assortment of snacks as well as milk and a juice cup (ped. said to always pack a jar food or two in case of delay). I also picked up a pack of puffy stickers, they were great fun...we stuck them on the seats and each other.
We flew jet blue, so they have the TV there for you. I also brought a pillow from home. My son like to put his head on it :) I found myself sitting on the floor in front of our seats a bucng, that way he could play across the 2 seats while my husband sat in the aisle seat.
