New Here-some questions
I am in the process of deciding what course of action to take-we were recently diagnosed as unexplained infertility. We have one child, had one miscarriage (which took 7 months to conceive) and now we have been trying again for almost a year. We are both over 35.
I think we are going to start with an unmedicated IUI. We aren't totally comfortable doing clomid or other medication, for fear of multiples. Has anyone had a success pregnancy from an unmedicated IUI? The doctor said, right now our chances of conceiving naturally are 2% and doing an unmedicated IUI will bring that up to 10%. Doing clomid will increase it to 15%. I guess I am just hoping that someone can tell me yes they did get pregnant by just doing the IUI!
this is so stressful!!

Re: New Here-some questions
I can let you know tomorrow. Our first IUI was unmedicated, and tomorrow is the day I go to my RE to find out if I'm pregnant.
Full disclosure: I took a digital HPT today and it was negative.

Re: New Here-some questions
Im sure there are people out there who had success with unmedicated iui. My dr told us that the odds of twins were only about 5% so we took the risk and decided to try a VERY low dose of clomid. Do what you're comfortable with. GL!

Re: New Here-some questions
I also had unexplained IF, which is so hard to deal with. Have you thought about going to a RE to address the issue? They run many different tests than a regular OB, and they see things that others can't. This may help to clear things up for you and give you a more accurate prediction for your future and your chances with iui.
I did an unmedicated iui and 3 medicated iui (all unsuccessful) before going to IVF. Our chances of conceiving multiples with iui were low, and I later found out how low the chances were to even have a single. Throughout the process, they did not find a single thing wrong.
Clomid in low doses does not produce many follicles like the stims do (Follistim, etc). At most, I had 3 follies on my highest dose of Clomid.
Good luck!
