This has been asked before but what bank is your mortgage with?
I'm trying to get an idea of the best bank for a mortgage..I'm not going to use a mortgage broker.
Can you tell me what bank you used, what rate you got and when you closed? Also, did you have a good experience?
We bought a house a few years ago and used Wells Fargo. I used them because they gave us the best rate and had the lowest fees. I called several banks at the time including Chase and Astoria Federal and their rates and fees were higher. I also went to a few small mortage companies that a real estate agent & friend recommended (because she swore that the big banks take forever to close) and their fees were high!
Now that it is a few years later, Wells Fargo may not have the best rate so I'm going to have to shop around again.

Our mortgage is with Wells Fargo. I recently did a closing for a client and they used Continental Home Loans. I have to say the bank was quick, the attorney was great to work with and they got a good rate too (it was an FHA loan so it was in the high 3% range). When we buy, I will probably use them. When we went to get pre-approved by Wells Fargo they were super strict (which may just be a sign of the times) and I didn't think the rate was so great.

Mortgage banks (as opposed to large commercial banks like Wells Fargo) and credit unions typically have better rates.
It does matter what type of loan you are getting (FHA loans have lower rates than conventional, but with the mortgage insurance, it is still worth going conventional if you have 20% dowqn) and the length of the loan, so rates aren't one size fits all.
I also think that small mortgage banks, such as U.S. Mortgage, Continental, Academy Mortgage, etc., have much better customer service and can close loans much faster than the larger banks. With the big banks, mortgages are just one small piece of their overall business (and not that much of a priority anymore).

We used Bank of America and had a fantastic experience, but the person we were working with was based out in NC. They paid to have our rate lock extended for a week bc they were delaying us (only by 1 day). Then we were actually given a check for $200 bc they delayed us.
We closed in 2009 so the rates were higher. We got 4.25% I think. It was a great rate then, who would have thought they'd go as low as they have now though.

We closed in Feb with Chase. We closed exactly 60 days after going to contract. Our rate is 4%

We're with Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Our original rate was 6.375% - we refinanced to 4.875% We're currently thinking of refinancing again to go down to 3.875%.
