Re: If you could pick a cruise (or resort) around Christmas or thanksgiving, with entire family.....

You know DISNEY is my favorite Cruise Line. They have special holiday cruises with great events and entertainment. They're also great for extended families! On our cruise in March I can say a huge percentage of the families there were multi-generational extended family trips because there's so much for families to do together and separately.

What are you looking for in a cruise? What did you not love about Carnival?

Do you go for a great casino, great restaurants? shows? Do you like a party atmosphere or more toned down? Do you know which port you'd want to leave out of? Which ports you'd like to see? Something that's all sun and sand or something more educational such as rainforests and mayan ruins?

For my next non-Disney Cruise I'm considering NCL. Their ships seem really amazing and they are really known for great international restaurants and I like the whole "Freestyle" idea of not being told when and where to eat, etc. They are really working on bringing up the caliber of the entertainment options for kids, because everyone tries to compete with Disney on that front. RCCL has also added a lot of options for kids.

Some cruise lines are younger, some are older. Our cruise was during Spring break and some of the carnival ships seemed like party boats, whereas our ship did not seem to have any spring breakers. There were other adults only travelers, but they were all about my age (early 30's), and no drunken shenanigans. It was primarily families with kids though.

I just think overall the 2 carnival boats I were on where "cheesy". Not crazy about the food, entertainment, etc. There were a mix of people, but felt a little senior citizen at times.

My girls would love the pool all day....but some entertainment would be nice too.

I LOVE the idea of Disney.....BUT from what I hear not sure I love the price tag. And if it's super $$$$ not sure I can sell the rest of the family. (although we might be interested depending on the cost LOL)

Re: NM I I'm hearing cruising & winter doesn't mix!

DH and I took our honeymoon cruise in December. I LOVED cruising at this time of year. Everyone back home is freezing their butts off while you are having a fun, tropical vacation! The islands are hot but not scorching like in the summer but a comfortable heat, like 85.

However, I don't know if I would leave from up North to go down to the Caribbean. Oh, who am I kidding. I'd take a cruise anytime, anywhere! Chat Icon

We cruised out of NY Christmas week. It was good and bad. It didn't get warm until Florida and even then it was mid60-low70. Pretty much the same for Bahamas, maybe a couple degrees warmer. But it was nice to be on vacation either way.
