Alaska Cruise - Excursions
What Excursions do you recommend?
We are going in August for 7 days:
Juneau Skagway Tracy Arm (half day) Victoria
Any other tips? We are going Royal Carib on Rhapsody of the Seas.
DH and I have been on cruises before but this is the first one with my family - all adults, no kids.

Re: Alaska Cruise - Excursions
I went in 2006, also on RC.
Book the excursions early, they sell out fast. DH and I learned the hard way. The whale watching tours are disappointing, as we heard from many people who took them. You will see whales while at sea, especially around dinner time, so try to get a table near the window. So amazing.
The day you arrive at the Glacier, get a spot on deck as early as you can, starboard side. It's cold but so worth the wait. Pack warm jackets, gloves, hats and scarves for this part. The captain is awesome, he will get you about a 1/4 mile away from the glacier. Look for the harbor seals floating on the icefloes.
In Skagway, we took the train ride booked thru RC, the sights were amazing.
In Juneau we took a bus tour (not thru RC) to the Glacier and then came back into town and walked around a bit. It rains a lot in Juneau (280 days out of the year), so you may want to pack a rain jacket and hat, waterproof shoes. Here we saw tons of eagles and salmon jumping upriver. If I remember, there is also a salmon fishing tour here that sounded interesting but was sold out.
Victoria we walked around on our own. It was a warm and sunny day.
Enjoy and have a great trip !
