Oh dear
Not sure if anyone remembers but my MIL wants to be in the delivery room when I have #3.
According to her it's her given right to be there because this is her last grandbaby.
My DH, AKA Mr Confrontational, has yet to tell her that THIS IS NOT HAPPENING. He assures me that he will make sure that this is not an issue when it's time for me to have the baby.
Well, my MIL, just told my mother all about her plans for being in the delivery room. She also told her all about her plans for how the birth is going to go.
Please pray for me.

Yikes!
Maybe you shouldn't wait for DH to say something.

I still can't believe this one. What chutzpah! If your DH isn't going to take care of it, you're going to have to (not that I would want to either). How did your mother react?

I had never said anything to my mother about it. My MIL is strange to begin with. She's not easy to get a long with. She never really let's you get a word in so my mother used this to her advantage.
My mother knew it wasnt true. We'd discussed this type of thing in the past and my mom knows I dont want anyone there except DH.
My DH would usually never let something like this slide. I dont know what his issue is.

Re: Oh dear
I would have the nurses at the hospital run interference for you, but yes DH must say something to his mom. You are the one in labor so you get to decide who does and does not come into the room. Alternatively, don't tell her you have gone into labor and just call once the baby is born but I would not be able to do that personally.

Re: Oh dear
She ought to be told point blank no, now, and get used to it. I know my daughter is only 15 m old, but I already know I don't want to be in the room while she's giving birth unless for some reason she asks me to be there. My son is only 14 weeks gestational but OMG I couldn't even IMAGINE telling his wife someday I'm going to be there! This boggles my mind! As a daughter and a mother!!!
You can definitely have the nurses tell her no way. Our hospital only lets 2 in the room plus the one giving birth. It's so the partner and a doula can be there. Maybe you can hire a doula so she absolutely can't be there. Might be worth the added expense...

Re: Oh dear
Im sorry but SHE HAS SOME NERVE!!!
how dare her say its her right! Thats crazy, really crazy. Birth is a private personal experience and if you dont want her there, she does NOT have any right to be there. I hope DH takes care of this for you but if not Id say something myself to save you stress the day of when shes trying to weasle her way into the room. Good luck!

Re: Oh dear
Sounds like she's off her rocker! I know I'd probably lose patience waiting on dh to talk to her, so if I were you I'd just tell her that your doctor doesn't allow more than 1 person in the room, be it a coach or husband/2nd parent. I wouldn't even say it's a hospital policy lest she overstep her bounds again & call the hospital to check. If she still refuses to believe it, juvenile as it may seem, I'd even go so far as to ask my OB to write a note stating as much. Worst case scenario they won't do it. Best case - you have it in writing that she can't come in

Re: Oh dear
This is nuts! I dont want my mom in the room, much less my MIL. How in the world does she think it's her right. That would set me off! I would want DH to squash this now before it goes too long and before you know it, it's an issue at the hospital. Better now than later and if DH wont do it, I would do it myself. Best of luck!!
