AGH - garage sale

My neighbor listed our address with hers for a garage sale (she asked), but now I'm freaking out. I have only had garage sales at my mom's house.

And I'm going to be by myself with three kids for part of it!!!

Is it your garage sale, her garage sale or a joint sale between both houses? I would get a sitter for your kids.

While I have never had a home garage sale, I did organize a huge rummage sale at my temple.

Things to note:
-Have someone responsible for the cash box and don't leave a lot of cash in the box. You don't want someone to walk off with it.
-Have a free bin for stuff you just want gone but don't write free - just have it near the exit so if someone buys something you can say please take one item from bin and if someone offers $ for an item in the bin good for you.
-There will always be someone who says X was marked much less than what you marked it for. Don't give in. Just take the item. Kindly say it is PRICE. If they don't want it for that price that is fine, but keep your eyes peeled that someone else is not trying to steal something. I would try not to argue with anyone. People can get pissy really fast when they realize you won't let them pull a fast one.
-For after the first hour or when you feel the crowd has thinned, have a fill a bag sale for clothing. Have some plastic bags available.
-Remember to keep your hangers.
-Have a bottle of water for yourself.
-Keep your phone on you for emergencies.
