Visa requirements/Ireland?

Has anyone heard that you now need a visa coming here from Ireland? My Mom called me in a panic saying she was told she now needed a visa to come here on vacation & that the change when into effect in 2009. I haven't heard a thing about it & as far as I can tell as long as you are no here for longer than 90 days you don't need a visa.

Re: Visa requirements/Ireland?

I just checked. She doesn't need a visa in advance but she does need to fill out the ESTA Form (Which is total bullsh!t in my opinion)

She can find the info here: ESTA

Re: Visa requirements/Ireland?

Most Irish visitors will only have to fill out the ESTA form and get approval for a visa waiver, but one reason I can think of that she will need a visa is if her passport is not a newer issued, machine readable one. I know the older Irish passports just have a photo pasted on and dont have the machine readable lines at the bottom of the info page.
I think people I know that have had to get the visa said it costs about 30 euro?

Yes you need the ESTA. It should be $14. We just had to buy it for DH last week. We didn't buy it ahead of time and got it at the airport (Frankfurt). It's good for two years.

Total BS IMO.

yup. its the good old Esta, my husband has to fill one out, but my kids don't as they have American passports as well as the British ones. Its annoying, but its only a small fee.
