I just got this top coat & I'm in love. BUT while reading the bottle I noticed tis warning
"WARNING! This product contains a chemical known to to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."
Uhhhh... WTF?!?!?!? Why only in California, why not the earth?

Re: Seche Vite
Cali is rather tight with their regulatiions. Whatever the FDA approves, CA always goes lower.

Exactly. If you go to California those signs are ALL over the place! It's crazy.

Re: Seche Vite
So does that mean this chemical doesn't do the things it says, because CA is ultra paranoid and overly cautious?
I'm a little weirded out by that warning, but so impressed with the results of the top coat

Re: Seche Vite
California is a little alarmist
We just had flooring replaced in our store and the boxes said "this product creates wood dust which is known to the state of California to cause cancer"
I would not worry about the sec he vite. Although I have stopped using it since becoming pregnant just as a precaution.
I find that the Essie good to go top coat is a suitable alternative

Wow thanks for posting this because I love that stuff but never read the bottle! ... I'll continue to use it - but if I ever do get pregnant again ( ok riiiiiiiiight.....) then I'll stop and use something else. Something tells me I'd fall in that 'lucky' 2% category.....

Re: Seche Vite
I saw that message on a garden hose once and looked it up. Turns out there was lead in it.
For things that I can put down and wash my hands afterwards, I wouldn't be as concerned. One-off exposures. But then I consider all the other things in my life that allow trace amounts of harmful toxins that cause cancer and think... does all that stuff add up at some point?
I don't want to scare you, I just try to avoid things that have warnings on them. California was also a leader in vehicle emissions standards, and now they're pretty common so maybe they're on to something.
