Around $600 for one that my DH surprised me with. It's really nice and 7 years later I still use it frequently. Other than that, I wouldn't spend more than maybe $200, and even then I would consider that pretty expensive.
Shoes-- outside of my Uggs that I've had for 4 years and are still awesome, I try to stay under $100 for shoes, or $150 for boots. Again, those are my maximum numbers, and generally I try to look for a better deal than that.
I am not into designer names AT ALL.

If i had over 1K to spend on myself, it would be on clothes!! I can't justify it for a bag but prob b/c I'm not a huge "bag" person. I can get so much clothing or the price of one designer bag!!

this for me too. my kate spade i own is more expensive then the coach bags i own, but it was unexpected gift from a family member.

I have 2 LV bags that were between $1200 and $1500. At the time my husband and I were making the same money we are now but living in a small house with very few bills. It didn't hurt us at all to spend the money. Since then we have built a bigger house have more bills and plan to have children soon. I can't bring myself to spend more than $250 on anything new.
I spent it when I could. I would never struggle just to have something like a designer bag. It bothers the heck out of me to listen to people complain about money but then they have to have high end stuff...

I baby it like crazy, I collect handbags and treat them with so much care.
I am obsessed with handbags, anyone who knows me can testify to that.

Same, my Bal was over 2K after tax, but it was a "present" from DH.
I won't spend 1K+ on any one item without consulting with my DH first, regardless of what it is.
ETA: I beat the crap out of most of my bags.  I don't think twice about tossing them on the floor of my truck or anywhere for that matter. That's why I like my Chloes and B Bags...they take a beating very well and still look great!

DH has bought me a few coach bags, I THINK the most expensive was $400ish because it was a messenger bag.

Pre-kids around $1000- I would treat myself to a new bag each year. Now I can't bring myself to spend that type of money on myself. So I just rotate what I have.

same! but my most expensive was more like $130.
All of my other bags were under $100, most under $60.

$98.00 on a Coach bag at the outlet...
Would love a LV bag, but I just cant see myself spending that much on a bag (when I could go on vacation!)
