Being complimented on something artificial
If you have something about you that is artificial (color contacts, fake eyelashes, boob lift/job, hair color, lip injections, etc), and if someone compliments you on it, do you share your secret?

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
Your question doesn't really apply to me, but I'm sure I probably would blab. It's like if someone compliments my shirt, I have to tell them, "It was only $4 on clearance at Target," instead of just saying thank you.

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
Sometimes. Sometimes I'll make the joke "Thanks, I paid for it myself." or something to that effect. Otherwise, I'll just take the compliment. The only thing really artificial on me ever is my hair color and occasionally my tan.

I do this all the time, too! I'd rather brag about how cheap something was rather than how expensive it was!

Depends. I wear hair extensions. If a random stranger in a store says- wow I love your hair - I will usually just say- Thank you.
If it's a friend or coworker or family member- I will tell tell- "Psst- it's fake!"

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
I use ot wear color contacts all the time when I met DH.
People would compliment me on the color of "my eyes all the time. No matter how much I wished they were mine I could never lie. I would always blab "thanks - their fake"

Maybe, I guess it would depend who it was to compliment me. Although I can't think of anything I wear that's artificial, unless I were to maybe get a spray tan or something.

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
I am guilty for doing that...my co worker wears wigs and once I said wow I love your hair she said thanks...another coworker said I shouldn't have said that, instead I should of said "I like your look" lol...sooo I don't even say anything anymore!

Same, I used to always tell people but now I just say thank you - honestly more so just because it becomes a whole conversation… where I got them, how to use them, do they say in, how long to they last, how much are they, on and on and on

me too
I also have implants- it's amazing how many people ask if they are real- but I did go from a B to a DD (went back on the pill and they grew)
they are kind of hard to miss- even though they look real
I also will tell you if I got a great deal on something
it's just how I am

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
As others have said it depends on who it is. I don't have a lot of fake right now, but hairdresser complimented my skin & wanted to knwo what I use. I thanked her, but told her I was wearing a lot of makeup! So I told her my skinf care products & my foundation.
I have also told people my highlights are natural, as in "thanks, but I didn't have anything to do with it this time.", but this mostly my hairdresser & a close friend who has seen my hair color go through natural & unnatural changes, and happens to have a really nice natural color of her own.

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
I have my hair died red but it looks TOTALLY real. I get compliments ALL the time. I just take the compliments. Anyone who really knows me knows its not real, and strangers don't need to know. I had to get my DH in the habit of keeping his mouth shut when people compliment me and he's around.

Re: Being complimented on something artificial
I have the opposite problem lol. My eyelashes are really long, esp. when I wear mascara, they are crazy long. I've had people say "omg, I love your eyelashes are they fake?" I tell them no, then they proceed to give me looks as if I'm lying LOL hahah

I do the same exact thing lol I don't have any fake body parts, don't even dye my hair so it doesn't really apply to me either
