long weekend with 14 month old
Dh and I want to take DS away for a long weekend in July, he will be 14 months. We would probably for 3 nights and would prefer somewhere driveable. DH's family is renting a house in the Hamptons for 2 weeks in August so that's not an option since we don't want to go there twice in one summer. We were thinking either Block Island, Boston, Newport, or New Hampshire...possibly even Mystic, CT. We are going to do Dutch Wonderland/Sesame/Lancaster next year when he is two and can get more out of it. Any suggestions would be great...thanks!

Re: long weekend with 14 month old
The locations you listed are pretty diverse. What kind of vacation are you looking for?
My son is about to turn 2 and this July we'll take the first family vacation geared towards him - Dutch Wonderland. (We have done Disney but that was more for his 10 year old sister since he was only 19 mos at the time.)
At 14 months my son was just starting to walk well, so he would have appreciated space to run around - parks, etc. Actually he still does - in two weeks DS, my mom and I are going to New Hope, PA to a child friendly bed and breakfast for one night as a gift for my mom's birthday. ONe of my criteria was that the place have some kind of grounds for him to run around.
So you might want to go for either one of the more rural locations or a city with nice parks.
If you tell us more about what kind of vacation you're looking for then we can help you better.

Re: long weekend with 14 month old
We just want a relaxing family weekend. Because he will be so little, we don't need theme parks or anything like that. Just a beach or a lake, and a walkable area where we can go for ice cream, things like that.

You would love Kennebunkport, Maine.
It's a small village with an ocean beach. It's very walkable and there are shops and restaurants.
If you get bored, you're within driving distance of several locations with more to do (Portland, Freeport, etc.)
