Where Should We Go On Vacation?: Updated!

I'm so torn...DH told me it's my choice to pick our vacation. We plan to go mid-May....but I can't decide. I think I've narrowed it down to an Alaskan cruise or a week in Costa Rica.

If we do Alaska we'd be doing a balcony but it can be anywhere from $500-$1000 more than Costa Rica depending on where we decide to stay there which severely limits our budget for excursions.

In Costa Rica we're debating between doing an all-inclusive which would run close to the cost of the Alaskan cruise or staying at a smaller hotel in either Manual Antonio or Arenal. DH isn't crazy about the idea of splitting a week into two places because he feels like we'll be too rushed.

OR we can always go to the Caribbean to an all-inclusive as a back up.

Update: We booked Costa Rica! The main deciding factors were the fact that the flights were terrible for the Alaskan cruise and we saved alot of money by going to Costa Rica. Plus we both really wanted to do a tropical vacation more and DH has been to Alaska! I cant wait, only a month away!!

I vote Costa Rica in a small hotel. Get out. experience the culture and local restaurants

hmm this is a tough one. just coming back from costa rica i will say it is AMAZING
but i would suggest going to more then one location. we have friends that went to one spot and loved it, but while they were there they heard about other places and they regret that they didnt have a chance to do more. so if DH is against multiple stops got for Alaska.

I went to Alaska a few years ago and it was amazing...completely diff type of vacation then costa rica. i did not do a cruise though but wish i did...there is so much to see.

as i write this, i realize my vote is an alaskan cruise
but whichever you choose...you cant lose they are both fantastic

I don't think you could go wrong with any of the trips you listed, but I was leaning toward Alaska.

I thought seeing other people's thoughts would help but I'm still so torn!!! Everytime I think I'm leaning more one way than the other something brings me back. I just cant decide and DH is no help!
I am determined to decide and book by this weekend though.

Definitely Costa Rica!

I have had Alaska cruise on my travel list for a while now. Every person who has been has told me to save it until I'm like 60 years old.

Costa Rica has a ton of adventurous things to do like waterfall rapelling, ziplining, thermal hot springs, etc. So much fun!

I stayed at the tabacon in costa rica and had a great experience. It is pretty affordable with amazing hot springs. I highly recommend it.
