Spinoff to spinoff... Moms in delivery room?

Crashing from parenting but will be back here eventually, God willing Chat Icon . . .

I have 3 questions that I'd love to hear everyone's responses to.

1. If you want your mom in the room when you deliver and DH says no way, what would you do? (you're REALLY for it, he's REALLY against it)

2. Do MIL's have as much "right" to be there as YOUR mom? Does your mom being present mean his mom gets to also?

3. Does the mom in labor get to call the shots on who's in the room, etc or does DH have equal say since it's his baby too?

Re: Spinoff to spinoff... Moms in delivery room?

I plan to have my mom and DH in the delivery room and thank goodness DH is fine with that..

1. If you want your mom in the room when you delivery and DH says no way, what would you do? (you're REALLY for it, he's REALLY against it)

-I would really try to explain to him why I would love my mom to be there..if he still is against it then I would just have to tell my mom that she cannot be there. Ultimately this is my and DH's baby..so I do have to meet him half way.

2. Do MIL's have as much "right" to be there as YOUR mom? Does your mom being present mean his mom gets too also? N

-To me my MIL has no right to be there. I see my mom being there as totally different than MIL being there. I would never want my MIL in there with me.

3. Does the mom in labor get to call the shots on who's in the room, etc or does DH have equal say since it's his baby too?

-I think it depends the couple. My DH is very laid back and leaves everything up to me but I do respect his opinion if he were to have one.

This doesn't apply to me for so many reasons (Im having a csection and even if I wasnt I wouldnt want ANYONE in the room) but I would have to say it would depend on the reason why I would want my mom there. Does she know exactly what to say to keep me calm? Or is it just because it would be nice to have her present at the birth? If it was the first reason I would probably try to explain this to DH and see my point of view. If it was the second reason then I would respect his wishes.

2. Do MIL's have as much "right" to be there as YOUR mom? Does your mom being present mean his mom gets too also? No, MIL doesn't have as much of a right as my mom would. The same way my mom wouldn't have as much of a right if DH was sitting spread eagle for the world to see. If I were to allow my mom in that would not be an automatic for MIL.

3. Does the mom in labor get to call the shots on who's in the room, etc or does DH have equal say since it's his baby too?
It is his baby as much as it is mine but I'm the one who is in the most vulnerable position, in more ways then one. So I think the mom should have final say on everyone.

In the end...I would have to go with dh wishes...it is our baby and he has a right to share it with just us

sorry but no...there has to be a comfort level for the one doing all the work!

I would say its a 51/49 split lol dad has a huge say but in the end...you are the one who has to be comfortable and feel supported...any which way you can
