Kitchen Tile?

Anyone use someone to tile a kitchen floor recently? Could you share the info of that person, please? Also, did you have someone lift up old tile and then lay tile yourself to save on the costs? If so, did it work out okay? DH and I are wondering if we should have someone do the whole job or partially. We don't know the costs or even know who to call. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Chat Icon

Re: Kitchen Tile?

We did all the work ourselves so all it cost us was materials and I got the tile from a wholesale place. Tiling is a pretty easy job and the demo is even easier.

Re: Kitchen Tile?

We did our own. We priced out a contractor to do it.. but it just wasn't worth it. We ripped up all the floors down to the beams, laid new subfloor/cement board and then laid the tile and grouted. It isn't hard.. but it does require the use of levels and tile cutters and it IS a pain in the ass when you are trying to be as precise as possible..

Re: Kitchen Tile?

Thanks guys. DH is a little intimidated even though he is handy. You guys have inspired me to try to do this ourselves. I found a whole bunch of tutorials online that make it look possible. Chat Icon

Re: Kitchen Tile?

We did it all ourselves. It wasn't that hard and it saved a lot of money.
