Not sure if this is good - or bad.........
My neighbors - who are total and complete trash, sold their house (corner lot) = GOOD
However, they sold to a builder who is supposedly taking that lot and building 2 homes on it. One that would 'next door' to me (Facing out onto my block. And the other next to it, but facing out on to the perpendicular road .........
SO - yes, they will be 2 brand new homes, but not sure if this is good or bad for ME ........(aside from the obvious demo and construction that i will have to live through this summer - but that's at least temporary)

I'd say it's good. If they are splitting the lot it has to be a pretty decent amount of land.. so instead of having 1 .50 acre parcel with a shoddy house and terrible neighbors, you will have 2 .25 acre parcels with brand spanking new homes inviting brand new neighbors! The change in lot size will likely effect the cost of the homes.. but depending on how bad the condition of the current structure is, it might be offset by the new buildings, right?
Of course.. you might still get bad neighbors, but always look on the side of hope!!

Re: Not sure if this is good - or bad.........
could be ok, could be bad.
1) construction isn't fun to be next to, just ask my neighbors.... hopefully you have good people moving in.
2) previous poster used .5 acres as an example... in my area its more like they have a .24 corner lot that they split into two .12 lots
depending on how they lay out the houses on the lot, you could end up with a big house on a small lot with no real yard next to you.
assuming they're not getting a variance, there really isn't anything you can complain about. The best thing I think to do is when they start, wander over there and make friends with the site supervisor and hopefully if you have any issues during th construction period, they will help correct them, trash, noise etc.
