Another Q? for Mom's on #2 or More

Last time (my first pregnancy) I gained weight faster in the begining and by 12 - 13 weeks I was up 15 lbs and I had to wear my jeans unbuttoned and by 17 weeks I was wearing maternity jeans.

This time I'm 6 weeks (almost 7) and I've had to have my jeans unbuttoned for the past few days and I'm feeling super uncomfortable still. I might have to wear my maternity jeans soon. I haven't gained much weight yet, maybe 5 lbs or so but my belly is expanding already.

So my question is this: Did you find that the second (or any other subsequent pregnancies) time you had to wear your maternity clothes much sooner than the first time?

I'm just wondering since I've been getting the twin comments since the day I found out I was pregnant. One of my friends had a dream I had twins and two different psychics years ago after DD was born told me I'd have twins, and DD keeps telling me she thinks I'm having twins... among other people mentioning it without knowing those other instances.

I'm getting nervous that my rapidy expanding waistline is due to a stow awayChat Icon

Last time I didn't gain even a pound until I was 10 weeks and then I just gained about a pound a week (almost eerily) the entire pregnancy. I started wearing maternity clothes around 16 weeks, maybe just a little beforehand.

This time, I gave up on regular clothes at 9 weeks. But I haven't gained any weight yet (I'll be 11 w on Saturday). I look (to me) about 16 weeks pregnant already. Like belly and all. It's SO WEIRD but it is what it is.

I think your uterus just expands so much faster than the first time or reshapes or something -- like it knows where to go and bounces back to pregnant much faster. But I'm no doctor. That's my theory on it. :)

Yay glad to help! Now if I could just get myself to feel better (physically) we'd both be ok Chat Icon

p.s.- i absolutely love your name and am considering it for #2 but i don't think DH would go along with it... we're putting off the name debate until we find out the gender :)

Thanks! I guess I can stop worrying about the twin thing then!

I showed my sister (who has 5 kids) how I'm squeezing into my regular jeans and she told me to give up and wear the maternity jeansChat Icon

during my first pregnancy, I was in maternity pants by the 13th or 14th week. This time around, I am only 8 weeks and my pants are already tight. I'm pulling out my old maternity clothes this weekend. I've already gotten a few "are you pregnant?" comments from co-workers. I've ganied 8 pounds so far (in spite of all-day morning sickness) and I am starting to feel like a house already!

With my first i never needed maternity clothes so never wore them, just went up a size on regular clothes, but with this one I have a feeling I'll need to wear maternity clothes soon. I think I will show much sooner, even hough you can't tell just by looking at me (for now) I have gained more weight than I thought I would so early on and My belly has gotten a bit fuller, I have love handles now and feel my pants getting tighter around my belly area. I have a feeling by week 16 I'll be looking obviously pregnant. With my DD I didn't feel/ look this way until about 20 weeks .
