Feeling unsure about leaving work...
I had originally planned to work until a few days before my due date. I had no idea what I was in for and as I got closer I realized it would be too much. I pushed my last day up a week and then another week. I told work that I planned to leave this Friday (I'll be 38 weeks) a little while back. I'm a teacher, and somehow they still don't have a replacement for me. Their plan was to have the new person there for my last week to help with the transition. Now I don't know if they'll even have someone for Monday!
Would you stick it out longer or stay with your plans? I got a note from my dr. today saying I'd be leaving on Friday but there isn't a medical reason for me to have to leave. But I have an hour commute by car and barely stay away some days. My feet are super swollen and I'm on them all day. I have the days to use, but I feel guilty leaving my regents classes without a new teacher being situated. My family and DH are really pressuring me to stop working.

Teacher guilt!!! That's how I feel everytime I call in sick...etc.... But, if you have everything set to go for Friday, then I would stick to the original plan. If the kids know you are leaving, and you have plans/a guide for the sub, then go for it..... You and the baby come first!!!!

NOPE - you gave them ample time to find a replacement. Do not feel bad at all ! Stay home and take it easy This Friday would have been my last day as well (at 38 weeks), but I stopped 2 weeks ago bc I fell . No one replaced me as of yet either. Oh well. Health comes first.

I would go out Friday as planned! Aren't there a lot of teachers looking for jobs that would permanent sub?

What's taking them so long to find a replacement? There are so many unemployed teachers out there! It seems careless on their part to not have someone lined up, especially since its possible for pregnant women to go into labor early or be put on bed rest towards the end. If you feel done, then definitely make Friday your last day. The school had plenty of warning. I would feel guilty leaving my students too but you have to take care I yourself and your baby. That comes first

Re: Feeling unsure about leaving work...
Thanks girls. I just need to hear I'm not being a baby or selfish about wanting to stop!
They've been working on getting someone but apparently there are a lot of leaves opening right now so the good people keep getting scooped up by other districts before we sign them.
