cablevision dvr box
does anyone have a newer samsung one?
we just had it put in, and i had an older dvr box at my parents house but this one seems really slow
they said it's all kept through their server, not on the box itself-could that be why?

Yea, I've heard this complaint from a lot of people with the new box, so when we moved we kept our old DVR box.
From what I was told from a rep, it is because of the server that it is slower. I would call and request an older box if you can.

Yep, what the poster above said. All my old boxes are great, the new ones are horribly slow.

plus, the DVR on the new ones generally don't work.
honestly, if i had any option other than cablevision i would take it. we have 2 cableboxes, and both have been switched twice. we've had 6 or 7 service calls and i don't even know how many calls to the cablevision customer service, until my husband finally got so fed up he yelled and screamed until someone came out and actually looked at the wiring instead of just switching boxes.
oh, and all of this has happened since sept.

I agree...cablevision is pretty awful. We constantly had to reboot cable boxes, reboot our router...and the last straw was when they wanted to charge me $20 to change my last name on my acct when I got married!!!!
Its excuse after excuse with them. Keep your options open!

We have the older one. DH keeps calling to inquire about when the multi-room is being released and the rep told him that it should be out soon but to not trade in our DVR b/c the new ones suck and are slow.
Unfortunately, FIOS is n/a where we are and we don't want DISH or Direct so we're stuck!
