If you waited to tell people...
How did you handle the 'are you pregnant yet?' questions? I feel so bad lying and I feel like its so obvious if I just brush of the question or change the topic. I wish people wouldn't ask questions like that!

Deny Deny Deny...Until it's the right time for YOU to come out.
I had a friend outright ask me and I felt really bad lying to her, but I had to. If someone is asking you, they probably think they know (and are right)...they just should not ask!!

Re: If you waited to tell people...
I was 16 weeks pregnant with before I told people but I really couldn't hide it anymore.
I didn't want to lie. I just said oh so you are saying I'm fat, huh? then they would get all defensive and say no no and I said well you must think I've gained weight if you're asking me that. So I never directly answered.

Re: If you waited to tell people...
With DD, my great aunt asked me the first time she saw me which happened to be at a cousin's bar mitzvah. I had been to the doctor the day before and was exactly 8 w 1 d. I just was honest with her and told her not to tell anyone please. She told everyone. It was what it was. I was a little embarrassed because it was so early but everyone she told totally understood why I hadn't said anything yet and were super supportive and nice about it. I didn't want that day to be about me -- it was supposed to be about the guest of honor! But it was what it was. I never lied about being pregnant.
This time, my grandfather happened to ask me on the phone the day before my first appointment. I was SHOCKED because it was completely out of the blue! I said "but Grandpa, I didn't even go to the doctor yet! I go tomorrow!" -- he was SO EXCITED and happy for us. :)
Obviously, these were both close family members who are older. If it's a stranger or not close acquaintance, I don't know what I'd do. Maybe just say "I might be -- we'll find out in a few weeks" and leave it at that. I'm very uncomfortable lying about being pregnant.

Re: If you waited to tell people...
Thanks ladies! I regret telling my friends that DH and I were ttc because now they keep asking if I'm pregnant yet. They must think something's up because I don't talk about ttc anymore. I hate keeping secrets, and I really want to share my excitement with my friends! My 12 week sono is a week away but I don't know if I can still wait that long!
