bedding sets

So it's early for me to be looking at bedding, and I was just looking online for fun but of course I found a set that I love but it's now discontinued on Babies R Us! I can only find it on Amazon.com. So, would you buy the discontinued bedding off of Amazon and not register for it (it would be a gift from my mom) and not worry about not being able to register for any coordinating pieces, or would you just wait it out until registry time and see what's available at that point? (I will probably start looking into registering in May).

We are not planning on finding out the sex, so it has to be neutral bedding.

Here's the discontinued set

Here's another one I like that's on Buy Buy Baby's site (it's better to click on the link and see the zoomed in detail, the scrolly pattern is really nice!)

which one do you like better?

Re: bedding sets

I like the first one better...

If you REALLY like it and you know you want it, then I say buy it from Amazon. Why does it have to appear on your registry if your mom is getting it for you?
While you have time and there is SOOOOOO much bedding out there and so much more that will come out, if you fell in love with a set I say go for it cause you will always go back to it in your head anyway.

If the seller is Amazon then you have like a year to return it. So you can buy it now and in May if you see something else you like more you can return it. Just make sure Amazon is the seller and that there is no limit on return.

Re: bedding sets

Yea when I fell in love with my set it wasnt discontinued, but I kept looking around and looking around... I ended up with the original one I fell in love with!

Yea I ordered a Boppy pillow from Amazon and hated it so I returned it and when I was going through the Return processing it said I had until March 2013 to send it back... I was like whoa I didnt know that, KOOL! LOL

Re: bedding sets

I had a hard time finding a set I really liked so, get it if you love it and return it later on if something else comes up. Just save the original packaging & receipts. I think Amazon gives you 90 days or something to return. Check into that.

I really like the 1st one!

Re: bedding sets

thanks for your opinions ladies!!! Chat Icon I absolutely love the first set, and what really sways me on buying it now was that of all the sets I found online that I showed DH (on BRU or BBB), this was the only one he agreed with me on!! You can't really tell from the picture but it has a little blue bird on the blanket, so cute!! And I guess since it's super neutral I can just register for whatever other accessories for the room, it's not like it has to be part of the set (like the diaper stacker thing, or lampshades etc). I am picturing painting the nursery brown and adding blue or pink accents once the baby is born, I absolutely love brown & blue or brown & pink (in fact our wedding "colors" were brown & blue!). It's nice to daydream about all of this, I just hope our renovations are done in time to have the nursery completely done by the time our baby bean arrives!!
