Tanning

I usually use self-tanner lotion to take the "edge" off of my whiiiiiiiite legs in the summer, but I assume those are bad when preggo?

Is there any safe way of tanning? That sounds like a dumb and superficial question since even sitting in the sun isn't really safe, but my legs are soooo white. I'm just looking to NOT draw attention to them. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Tanning

I haven't heard that self tanner is bad for pg women... it just dyes the outer layer of the skin. I'll look into it though. I was hoping to use some as I start to peel away the layers of clothes.

I agree, I would lay in the sun for an hour a few times to get some color.

Re: Tanning

I know everyone is going to post about 100 different things that they read or heard from their dr so Ill just add what I read AND heard from my dr...

1. If your in the sun, be careful not to dehydrate and drink A TON of water.
2. Remember your skin is more sensitive to the sun, therefore you will have the tendency to burn.
3. Be careful not to overheat. So you may not want to outright lay out for hours...

As far as self tanners, I was told not to since its such a large amount to cover and they really dont know what the long term effects can be since they really dont know the ingredients. Even the Jergens Natural Glow is a no.

I use Sally Hansen Airbrush legs to give my legs color and my dr said it was ok since its something you rub on and wash off with soap and water a few hours later. It doesnt soak into your pores and change your skin color.

No tanning beds and no spray tans. Same reasons as above.

Dont worry I think about these things as well, your not alone...
