what should we do with the back of our closet?

i don't have a pic of the closet itself, but we're pretty sure the back of our closet has this stuff on it:

particle board cedar

it's a "cedar" particle board

normally i would just take it down, but there's an organizer that we don't want to get rid of just yet

should we paint it? leave it?

I think that's a good thing to have, if its just because you don't like how it looks I wouldn't worry too much. It's just a closet no one will see it

I had these hideous wood shelves in my closet. I didn't want to take them down because they were functional but I didn't like looking at them either.

I ended up buying decorative contact paper and covered them up. Maybe you can do something similar?
