Are these braxton hicks contractions?
My stomach gets tight and I get a shooting pain down my vagina...it usually happens when I get up from sitting and start walking a lot. Is this normal? I am 35wks.

I am 35 weeks, 5 days. I have been getting braxton hicks since the second trimester, although they have really increased in frequency since say week 32 or so.
To me, it feels like an immense tightening of the stomach, so much so that it makes it hard to walk.
It can sometimes happen in conjunction with lightening, which is what I think you are describing with the shooting vaginal pain. I get that a lot now too. And sometimes, like you said, it happens together.
Fun times! 
All totally normal though.

Thanks! I had a feeling it was probably lightening...it happens every once in a while and always stops me in my tracks because of the pain.

do they feel like bad menstrual cramps? I've been getting some like that the past few days. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow.

No, not like Im getting my period...just a shooting/stabbing pain and the more I walk the worse it gets.

it sounds like you're getting lightening cr*tch, which is painful!
I haven't felt Braxton Hicks yet, which I've heard is a tightening. I mostly get irregular cramping
