Disney Photopass question.

I'm thinking about pre-buying the CD, will it be worth it?

In our upcoming trip to Orlando we'll be staying off property. We'll be at Magic Kingdom for 2 days, Epcot 1 day, and Hollywood Studios one day.

Are photos taken in all the parks? Can they all be on the same CD?

Re: Disney Photopass question.

Patti,

There's a money-back guarantee so right there, for me it's worth it.

Photos are taken in all parks - including the water parks - and if you tell the photographers that you pre-purchased the CD, they usually take even more pictures because they know they're going to get used.

Your travel agent should be able to tell you some of the places where they take magic shots. They're a lot of fun! I'm attaching a couple below.

Also, not all PhotoPass photographers are set up at the main attractions at the parks. I'm attaching a picture of my daughter from the bridge at the International Gateway in Epcot.

Disney will send you as many CD's as it takes to send you all of your pictures. We get several CD's each time! You'll also receive some stock pictures of attractions and characters that are great for scrapbooks, photobooks, etc.

Re: Disney Photopass question.

Hmm with 4 days it is a toss up - we are usually there 8-9 days. It depends on how many you think is worth it. You can get your money back if you decide not to use it. They take them at the entrances - on Main street and in various spots around the castle, in front of Spaceship earth and in various countries (like the gardens in China), etc. They also take them at all the meet and greets.

One printed photo will run you about $14.95. You also have the option of adding your own photos to the CD if you want to. You can also add borders if you want them and it does include the photos that they take that have you holding tinker bell etc. You then get the CD and a letter giving you the rights to the photos - so you can upload them or take them anywhere and have them printed. Which is much cheaper than doing it through disney.

My feeling is that if you KNOW you are getting the CD you will make sure that you take more photos.

You can put more than one photopass card on there (so if you end up with several cards you can use them all). Just a warning once you enter the card numbers to view your photos- they are only up for I believe 30 days unless you pay to extend it.

I only ordered the CD once as part of a photopass share, and I think we each paid like $20. It's not worth $99 to me since I just take my own, and I hand them my DSLR camera to take some of us together.

Re: Disney Photopass question.

Thanks everyone. Since we are not staying on property and we will only be at the parks 3.5 days I'm going to pass on it. I really just a nice family photo.

Look through photopass albums - I have several on my facebook if you want to see them, and pick out a few locations and poses you like for your family photo.

Go to those locations and use PhotoPass. Also have the photographer take the photos with your camera. Explain that you are planning to buy a nice family photo. They will go above and beyond if they know you are planning to buy photos.

At the end of the trip, you'll have all of the photos on your camera, and then you'll be able to choose one or two nice family photos and/or magic shots to print at Disney or on the site when you go home.

You hand the photo pass photog ur dslr? Do you hand him ur camera AND a photo pass that you didn't pre, purchase, or just urs? I'm into taking my own pics too but I didn't know if it would be weird to hand my camera to their photog. I hate giving it to random people though bc they usually do a bad job, lol.

You can give them your DSLR. Some will actually adjust the settings to take the best picture possible. Some will just snap away.

The way PhotoPass works is that when you go up to the first Photographer that you see, he or she will give you a card. They have no idea whether or not you pre-purchased a CD. You can still get a card, get as many photos as you want taken and decide what to do with them late.

I know, speaking of people messing up with a DLSR. I had my 35mm SLR on the trip when we got engaged and DH gave it to some guy to take our picture while he proposed. He framed it in a totally stupid way so you can't tell we're in front of the castle (pic is on FB but I have cropped it).

Generally speaking, the PhotoPass people will take your DLSR and do a decent job. I believe they are shooting with D90s right now (used to e D70) and I have the D80, so they had NO problem using my camera. I would just adjust the setting before you hand it to them because most of them will just snap a picture and won't even look at the settings.

ETA: They will ALWAYS take a pic with their own camera and scan it onto your photopass card (or give you a card if you don't have one) but they will also take them with your camera.

You don't purchase the photo pass card. It's free. They ask for the photopass card (or they will just give you one if you don't have it handy), and I hand them my camera. They don't mind taking pics with other people's cameras at all!

Oh she does a very lovely Mary Poppins dress. I'm sure it's $$$ though. The kids ones are upwards of $200. Nice though!

There is a closed group on facebook dedicated to Disney Customs. Amazing sets in there. If anyone is interested, I'll pass the info along.
