3 Days in Ireland

Hi, Ladies!

We're going to Europe this summer, and we're thinking of spending 3 days in Ireland. For a first trip to Ireland, what would you say are the most important sights to see in that time frame? We definitely want some variety. We can be based in Dublin or around Shannon.

TIA!

Driving the Ring of Kerry. It is 3.5 hours from Dublin, but you can't leave ireland without driving it. Spectacular.

and the Book of Kells in Dublin at Trinity College and visiting the Old Library.

We loved the Cliffs of Moher! Absolutely beautiful. We also climbed Croagh Patrick which was extremely difficult but so worth it. If you're into physical activity, definitely check out Croagh Patrick!

Ireland is fairly small but getting to all the good bits takes some time. Would you be flying into and out of the same airport? My favorite highlights are:

-Ring of Kerry (bit of a long drive, but so gorgeous)
-Blarney Castle
-Guinness Tour
-Trinity College & Book of Kells
-Galway city / Cliffs of Moher
-Kilkenney
-Killarney (so charming)

Thank you for all the responses! I know three days is def not enough time there!!! But, we want to see as much as we can.

We're still planning the trip, but it looks as though Ireland is going to be the last destination. We're thinking about flying from Edinburgh to Dublin or Shannon.

Is it easy to drive there? The opposite side of the road may stress me out!

Thanks!

Re: 3 Days in Ireland

Driving is easy enough. The roads are windy but driving on the left isn't to confusing because the wheel is on the other side as well.
I only get a little confused in parking lots :)

Enjoy

For someone not used to it, it is difficult to drive. It's not just the opposite side of the car and road, but also the VERY narrow, winding roads and those damn roundabouts! lol! FIL drove while we were over there. He grew up there and goes back every few years, and he still had a bit of a hard time with the driving!

This is what I am worried about... I don't mind taking a three day tour while there (we're thinking 4 days, not 3 anymore), but there are def some things we'd like to see that the tours don't. Hence why a car would be helpful!

UGH. Don't you wish we had all the time and money to travel?! LOL

Thanks for the ideas! We have to do a little more research this weekend before we decide so we can book the flights!
