japanese hair straightening
i am 20 weeks pregnant and i am thinking about japanese straightening my hair for the ease of it all (falling into the mommy routine and with another on the way, i fear it will only get worse ). anyway, my sister went and saw a sign that said 'if you're pregnant let us know' and when i called, they said it was "safe."
does anyone know why this is considered to be okay but the keratin treatment isn't?

Re: japanese hair straightening
I had JHS when i was 24 wks. JHS doesn't have formaldehyde in it. I didn't tell my salon I was pregnant ( it was winter)

Re: japanese hair straightening
not to be a weenie..but as a stylist alll lllll the companies tell us they dont have formaldahyde....and the solution in liquid form often does not ...but when heated to a certain degree releases the gases that are formadehyde etc... imo better safe than sorry.
i mean you could wear a mask and ask to be by an open window but good luck with that lol xoxo

Re: japanese hair straightening
my OB was ok with me getting the non formadahyde keratin treatment when i was pregnant. but not sure that i would do japanese while pregnant. you're OB ok'd it? i think the japanese process is alot stronger, and sits on your scalp longer. DOn't know if i would do it. I have heard of people doing it.................
ETA: i wore a mask during the entire treatment.
