i just called my insurance company....

some of you suggested that i call my insurance co. to see what is covered....

i am responsible for the first $5,000 out of pocket and then once i reach that they will cover 80% Chat Icon and a 10,000 lifetime max (not sure what that means?)

and to make it worse, i wont have a baby until 2013 and it all starts over again with the delivery/hospital bill since its a new year....$5000 out of pocket AGAIN and then 80%.

i just want to cry! has anyone been in a similar situation with paying out of pocket? do the doctors offices work with you at all? i almost want to request i go straight to an iui or something so that its more of a guarantee, ugh!

I feel you. I kHe inow its unfair. At least they cover something. The insurance chosen by my job does not even cover iuis or a dr visit to a RE. I have to pay $200 everytime just to see the dr. I know its hard enough to deal with this with the added stress of IF in general. Try and have your bloodwork and as much as you can done at your OBGNY. Once you find out more answers of what is wrong you can come up with a game plan on how to deal with this. FM me if you want to talk. Chat Icon

thank you for the info. having tests done with the obgyn is covered usually? ive just had my bloodwork done and my obgyn is doing my sonogram next week to check everything out. are there any other tests i should ask them to do before seeing an RE....and will the RE use my test results/sonograms from the obgyn if i request not to have them redone?

I don't know if this helps, but anytime I needed to have blood taken I went to a lab because I couldn't constantly be taking off of work and waiting over an hour each time (I was with Dr. B) just for blood.

Finally I realized there is NO co-pay at a lab! So I was actually saving myself $50 a time as that is my specialist co-pay.

Plus it is soooo much faster and with Sunrise I could just walk in whenever.

So maybe you can get all blood work at a lab and save that way?

I had to pay 100% OOP for IVF...and it didn't even work! Chat Icon

Personally, I'd be thrilled if I were you. $5k sounds like a bargain to me b/c IF treatment is really expensive.
