Question about IUI
Hi Ladies, When I met with my RE she said as soon as I get AF this month i'm supposed to call and make an appt between cycle day 2-5 to begin an IUI cycle. Now she explained the whole IUI process to me but I left with so much info that I forgot to ask what this upcoming appt is for and she said we would be doing monitoring after that but she didn't mention any meds and from what I gather from the posts I've read--you usually don't monitor with a natural cycle? If any of you ladies could kind of iron out these details for me I'd really appreciate it!! TIA!

Re: Question about IUI
They have to monitor you so they know when to do the IUI. They want to make sure you do ovulate. I know for me, OPKs never worked so they monitored my blood and sonos. I would also assume they don't want to miss anything that should or shouldn't be there (like a cyst).

Re: Question about IUI
yea they said after my first appt during the week of AF they'll schedule when I'll go back to be monitored for ovulation. I'm just confused bc I'm not sure what the appt is for the week of AF and from what I read from the ladies on here those who've had no meds usually monitor with OPKs--I'm not against getting monitored with the ultrasound I'd prefer it, I'm just wondering if she plans to use meds and I missed that part. Based on testing so far, we are only dealing with MF

I would assume since it is your first IUI cycle they don't really know your cycle too well and don't want to miss it. After a couple of IUI cycles and TI cycles they were able to predict my cycle.

The appt during the beginning of AF is likely to draw blood and do a sono. The blood test is to check that your hormone levels are correct. The sono is to make sure your lining is thin enough and that you don't have any cysts on your ovaries.
