Changing Pads

Can I use the Changing Pads made for a changing table if I don't have a changing table? I am probably going to be using the floor... so what should I order in terms of what to lay the baby down on?

If you are just going to use the floor then you do not need anything more than a towel really. I would not buy a foam changing pad....you can get the protective thin pad things that are washable.

I got the three-sided foam changing pad and a cover for it and have used it on the floor since about 2 months old (before that, I used several layers of waterproof pads on the ottoman). DD is 14 months old and now she knows how to "go to her diaper spot" and sits in her changing pad to be changed. I've never had to worry about her falling off a table or anything while changing her! (And believe me, she can be FEISTY while changing.) It was a very well-spent $45 to me. I love how nice and padded it is!

I also highly recommend getting lots of different waterproof pads in all different sizes to use and swap out on top of the changing pad and cover. My changing pad cover still looks like new after all this time because I always have a pad on top of it (those look somewhat soiled despite a thousand washings lol).

You can certainly use a changing pad on the floor if you want to, I don't see why not.

When we first had my DD we just used a waterproof pad on the bed in the beginning, it was the most comfortable place to change her.

I do agree with needing several waterproof pads to keep on top of the changing pad cover --- it's a lot easier to just throw a new one on if something gets on it then to change the whole changing pad cover. We only had 2 covers for our changing pad, but probably 5-6 waterproof pads.
