Night in L & D
At 27w6d I went for a regular Dr. appt on Monday only to find out I've been contracting. They were about 15 minutes apart - by the time I got to the hospital they were 2 minutes apart. I was given fluids in hopes of getting them under control. My Dr. was concerned because my cervix has been increasingly shortening and when the fluids didn't work I was given indocin every 6 hours. The medicine and bedrest slowly controlled the contractions - and had finally disappeared. Once the contractions went away, my cervixcal measurements got better as well - and I was released at about 7 PM yesterday. I'm now on indocin for a total of 72 hours (the maximum amount allowed to be used on pregnant women) and on strict bedrest until my appt with the specialist next wednesday.
My question is - did anyone ever experience contractions this early w/ a shortened cervix and when did you deliver or how far along are you now? Anyone have experience with indocin - once you stopped taking it, did the contractions start again?

Re: Night in L & D
i am 31 weeks and have been monitored every2weeks for my cervix. at my last visit at 30w the ultrasound (belly) showed my cervix at 4, internal 3.4 with pressure 3.1 They told me to be careful because once it gets below 2; i am on bedrest.
my cousin was monitored for a shortened cervix and had a similar situation as you... but she was pregnant with twins, they kept her in the hospital at 24 weeks, and at 25w5d she gave birth to two boys.
only adivce i have for you. is relax; put your feet up and listen to what your doctor says, and if you feel different at home (not right) go to the hospital/call your doc. Thats what my cousin keeps on telling me. If you feel something is off - just call your doc she tells .

Re: Night in L & D
I was put on bedrest at 24 weeks when I was regnant with my twins for having a very short cervix (at some points I was under 1!) I was only having occasional Braxton Hicks contractions the whole time. I ended up having them at 30 weeks. All I can say is take the bedrest seriously. I did in the beginning but after about 3 weeks I would get up here and there to do things that I didnt need to do but wanted to. Not saying that's why I ended up having them early but you never know. Lots of luck to you!!
