road trip to florida from ny with 7 and 8 yr old!!!
any suggestions on a good time to leave? dh thinks like 4am i think like 6-8 pm so kids sleep for the first 8 hrs. dh thinks they should be up to sight see!!
also drive straight through or stop over? where would you stop?

Definitely leave around 6:30-7:30pm if leaving on a weekday. Kids can sleep and you miss all the Baltimore and DC traffic. I've also left at midnight and it wasn't bad, it will just mess up the kids with their sleep a little.
Don't speed through Deleware or Virginia, troopers everywhere.
We always stop in Raleigh at DH's cousin's house, it's about halfway. If you can sleep and take turns driving, you can try to make it in one shot but it's difficult and can be dangerous if you're overtired. Whoever is taking the first shift should try and sleep for a few hours before you leave.

I have done the rip many times and I think 3 or 4 am is the best time.
