does anyone have a tankless water heater?
I keep seeing the commercials for Rinnai and curious as to how much this would be. It looks like we need to set up a time to get a quote from them so was wondering if anyone has had one installed already and if it was worth it.

We had one put in about 5 years ago. I know I posted about it before. No big complaints at all. Love having the extra room downstairs (no big tank!) and when all of us are showering and trying to get out of the house, having hot water continuously is great!

We asked about them when we were doing some renovations and were told that you need to heat with gas, not oil which is what we have, so it wasn't an option for us.

Having an endless supply of hot water is the best. Pairing it with a nice shower head(s) is the closest anyone might get to heaven on earth.
To say I love my tankless water heater would be a severe understatement.

I love mine too! We had it put in during a major renovation so I am not sure the cost but it allowed fpr us to put in two extra closets.

We have a Rheem one and love it. It's about 4 years old and I can't think of a single drawback.

I thought they made one for oil heating systems too? I could be wrong though.
Ours is natural gas fired. It has an electric ignition though. so when we had no power for 3 days from the hurricane last summer, we also had no hot water since it needs an electric spark to get it going on the gas.

We have tankless and have oil. That's pretty much all I know about it, since we bought the house last year and it was already in there. But just wanted to say that it is possible to have one with oil. Ours takes a long time for the water to get hot though and then it's scalding for a few minutes so we are not big fans. Maybe we have it set wrong?

Re: does anyone have a tankless water heater?
There are electric heated tankless systems, so it's very possible to have one with oil heat. The electric ones have a harder time heating the water fast enough, though, so they aren't as good as the gas fired ones. I looked into them about 3 years ago, so the newer electric ones may be better now. It's definitely worth looking into.
