Can gas cause contraction-like pain in the 3rd tri?

I've been having contractions on & off for about 2-3 weeks now in my UPPER stomach that I thought were Braxton-Hicks, but now I don't think it is. BH aren't in the upper abdomen, right? I've been getting terrible pains right below my breasts/at the top of my stomach that stop me in my tracks and, as of the past 2 nights, that I've had to breathe through. On avg. they're 1-2 min in duration & while they're not truly consistent I can usually count on their occurring every 5 min or so for about an hour. Can gas be causing this? If so, is there anything that I can take (like GasX)? Thanks!

While I'm not sure about the timing of your pains, this happened to someone I know. She felt contraction like pains and it ended up being gas. Once she layed down it ended up going away. Are you able to lay down to see if they go away when you have them?

Thanks for replying. I actually can't lay down when it happens - the pain worsens when I move. I have to stay statue-still & just breathe it out

Now that I've typed that out, I'm wondering...a few months pre-pg I had a series of gall bladder attacks that lasted for about a month & an endoscopy confirmed stones. This feels different than I remember, but it's similar...maybe it's the stones? I'm going to call my dr. later to see what he thinks...
