Tipping - B&B
How much do you tip the housekeeper if you stay at a Bed and Breakfast. I just got back from a 4 night vacation and I am wondering if I tipped enough. If it was a hotel I wouldn't think twice about it but it was a small B&B.
Also, do you tip everyday or just when you check out?
Just wondering what most people do.
Thanks!

Re: Tipping - B&B
I was just at a B&B and i read about it.
They actually say you're not supposed to tip at a B&B. other people say it depends if the owners are doing the work or a housekeeping service.
We DID leave a tip because we didn't know what to do, although some sites said the owners might get offended???
Curious to hear other answers

Re: Tipping - B&B
Thanks for the reply. They had an envelope to leave a tip. It was pre printed and said something like you don't have to tip but if you choose to, you can use the envelope. I know they have a housekeeper and I wanted to leave something for her but I just wasn't sure how much. I didn't have change (only $20's) and I thought $40 was too much. So I left $20 but I kept thinking that maybe it wasn't enough. There's nothing I can do about it now lol just kinda wondering for the future.
If it was just the owners I probably wouldn't have left a tip.

I think that sounds good. We had one night and left $7 (aha it's always based on what you have in your wallet).

thanks... and yeah lol, it really does come down to what's in the wallet. I really should have planned better and got some smaller bills in advance. I wanted to leave a little more but going to get change and come back would have taken too long.

I think $20 is more than generous.
