A decision has been made

DD was a nightmare to deliver. She had shoulder dystocia and the OB had to break her collar bone to get her out.

This time around, I asked if I was good to wait until I deliver naturally. He said absolutely not, come back in2 weeks and we will make a decision- early induction or C-Section. Sooo- I went this morning for the discussion. I will be 36 weeks on Saturday. The baby's head alone is measuring at 38 weeksChat Icon He said that measurement alone is qualifying me for a section. I have a very narrow pelvis and considering DD's delivery, he said, "Why risk not give you a perfect baby when I CAN with a section?"

I'm nervous about it, but happy to have a final decision that we are both comfortable with. I go back next week and will schedule the date then.

Re: A decision has been made

wow sorry you had to go through that with your DD. It sounds like a section would be the best way to go. Don't worry ~ c-sections are not that bad ~ i had one with DS #1 and will have another one with this lo as well!!!

Re: A decision has been made

I think you're making the right choice.

I didn't have issues deliver my first. He was 8lbs full term.

DS2 was trending to be over 10 lbs at full term and so they did the diagnostic on me which said he had 80% chance of shoulder dystocia. I was scared but ultimately decided on a schedule section at 39 weeks. He was 9 lbs, 4 oz.

Who knows how it would have turned out if I tried naturally but with 80% chance I didn't want to risk it.

Good luckChat Icon

Re: A decision has been made

Thanks, girls.

I'm a little sad that I will never have another chance to deliver vaginally and my first time around was such a whirlwind. Oh well, what can ya do. As long as baby is healthy.

As soon as the doc said he was nervous because of last time, I knew a section was the way to go!Chat Icon
