looking to book airline tickets ... have some questions
I am looking to book flights to Puerto rico for 4th of july week.
I am having trouble commiting since i am always worried prices will drop.
I assume the earlier you book the better is this true?
If i do book and the price drops will any site give me credit?

Re: looking to book airline tickets ... have some questions
it depends the carrier, but check yapta to be sure
yapta also monitors the prices AFTER you book...and it will tell you if you are due a refund
but again, not all airlines participate. but there is a list on the site

Re: looking to book airline tickets ... have some questions
I've heard that 6 weeks before is when you get the best prices. However, I'm not sure this applies to holiday periods.
I know JetBlue will give you a credit if the price drops after you purchase. I've called them several times, but it's airline credit, not money back on your credit card.

If you book your tickets through Orbitz and the price drops they will send you a check for the difference.

Re: looking to book airline tickets ... have some questions
Jet blue will give you a credit to your Jet Blue account but it must be used I am pretty sure within a year of the date of original booking. That is what they did for us - say you book Jan 1st - then you have to use it for travel that is completed by Jan 1st not say use it on Dec 29th to book a trip for June. Southwest is the same.
Other lines some will charge a change fee - so if the change fee is $100 pp - and the fare is $150 cheaper you would only get back $50.

they only do this if someone else books the same exact flight at the lower price.
trust me...i bought tickets from orbitz, and the price has gone down, but no refund yet....hoping someone else buys the same tickets!!
