City Mini 2012 vs 2011
I really wanted a color that is no longer available in the 2012's. Would you order the 2011 or would you just get the 2012 in a different color? Are the updates that much worth the $50 difference and settling on a different color?

I was told that there were no updates, only that the colors were changing.

Re: City Mini 2012 vs 2011
I was at BRU last week debating on strollers...
And we spoke at great length about the City Mini. Apparently they made the basket easier to get at from the sides, but not from the back still. The bar that everyone kicks in the back is still a straight across bar so people will still kick it.
I ended up deciding on the Britax B-Agile stroller. It looks a lot like the all-black City Mini but a lot of the "flaws" of the City Mini are "fixed" -- the back bar is curved so you don't kick it and the basket is easily accessable from all sides, even the back. It also has a really good feature as far as adjusting the harness and the baby can't unbunkle the harness themselves (which is something a 2-year old would definately do with the 2012 model city mini according to how it looked in the store!)
They have the 2012 model City Minis on display at BRU...alongside the Britax B-Agile. I would go to the store and check them both out and see what you prefer!

Re: City Mini 2012 vs 2011
NM I was wrong. This is from the Pish Posh Baby blog:
Moms are crazy about the city mini stroller. Well if you loved it in 2011 your going to love it even more in 2012! First lets talk about fashion! (Since for me that is most important!). The city mini will be available in a new hot blue color. Similar to the cole color of the Uppababy vista. The 2012 city mini in blue is absolutely gorgeous! Saw it at the show and its really hot. Secondly, The sand city mini will now be mainly sand and just accented with stone. A bit darker a more practical!
The double city mini will only be available in Black, Crimson (red), Green. No more purple ? Ok, now that we got fashion covered, lets move on to function! Basket changes! Finally! The u-shaped bar in the rear of the stroller gives you easier access to the under seat basket. Another great feature for 2012 is the automatic latch. When folding the stroller it automatically locks.
Now pricing changes….I wish I could say there is none…. But there is! The new 2012 model retails for $250 for the single stroller and $450 for the double. All strollers are available for pre-order and will be shipping Feb 2012.

The back bar on the city mini 2012 is curved. I saw them at BBB. I tried to upload a pic from the web, but it was too big. You can see it in the link below.
Here's info about all of the updates:
City Mini 2012 article
New 2012 City Mini Stroller
Baby Jogger has tweaked this stroller over the past few years and this year they did it again. There were three primary changes that the mini had which are as follows: they have added an additional inch of depth to the seat so that kids have more space in the stroller. While an inch is not that much, it does make a difference. They have re-designed the stitching to be horizontal so that it has the appearance of being wider, although that has not changed. They have added a latch to keep the stroller closed when folded. This was real easy to use, but the nice thing was that if a consumer did not want to use it, it can easily be removed with a screwdriver. The back bar was made into a U shape so that greater access to the basket could be achieved. Again, while a minor change, for those that use the basket, you will like this modification. They also came out with 2 new colors. The first is a nice blue that is similar to the Baby Jogger blue color, and the second is sand. They stone color is being eliminated in 2012 and this will take its place. The new 2012 City Mini will will go up in price a little to $249.99 for the single and $449.99 for the double and will be available in February of 2012.

Re: City Mini 2012 vs 2011
There are 2 back bars...the top one which is now curved and will effect ease of getting in and out of the basket, but the one between the two back wheels is still straight and from what I have heard this is the one that people kick when they use the stroller so that problem wasn't fixed...
Trying to attach both pics...first pic is of the back of the 2012 city mini
2nd is the back of the britax b-agile stroller - can't find a back pic online but you can see from this picture that the basket is very easily accessable from both sides and back. Granted if the color matters to you then this isn't the stroller for you because it only comes in black! Image Attachment(s):

Ohhh, gotcha!
I registered for the City Mini, and now I can totally see myself kicking the bar...I tend to do things like that!

Yea, I always kicked the back bar on my old stroller so when I saw that the Britax stroller had the curved bar I was all over it.
Plus I am 5'5" but DH is 6'3" and I heard that kicking the back bar is even worse for taller people...so the Britax was a good choice for us.
And I loved the harness and the way that the straps and also the incline of the seat adjusted on the Britax. This is baby #2 for us and those were all pet peaves with other strollers for me and I thought the Britax design seemed perfect!
