C-Section class at Good Sam
Has anyone done this lately? If so, could you please let me know how long the class was & if it cost anything?
I'm on dc#2, but went early with #1 and didn't get a chance to do the class. DH asked me last night if we'd have to do it this time around & I'm glad he thought of it. I'm going to ask my OB at my appt. later this week...

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
i took this class a few weeks ago. it was free and i believe it was 3 hours long. it was pretty good- the instructor was really great and they gave a lot of helpful information. it was nice because although they spoke about c-sections, they covered other info too and went over specific hospital policies and all that stuff too. i recommend it! good luck

I haven't taken it but it is free. And just an FYI, I know it used to be mandatory but it's not anymore.

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
Thanks so much ladies!! It was mandatory back in '09 which is why my dh brought it up, so it's really good to know that it isn't anymore. I honestly don't know if/when we'd be able to attend a 3 hour class together these days, so it's good to know that we won't have to worry if we can't do it.

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
I never even heard of this class and I had an elective C/S in 07 Not that I would take it at this point, I think I found out pretty much everything about it with my first C/S but I wish I had known about it back then

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
My memory is fuzzy since it was so long ago, but we both remember them telling us that should I wind up getting a last-minute C/S dh would not be allowed into the room for the birth unless he/we had completed the class & had gotten some sort of certificate. We were supposed to attend the class a day or 2 after I had my son so we didn't make it lol Thankfully I didn't wind up w/a C and he didn't miss anything - I would have been pissssssed if he had. I'm wondering if that's why they changed the policy...too many pissed off parents...?

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
I had DS#1 there in August 2010 and they told us that we had to take the class or DH couldn't come in. That's a lie. I ended up needing an emergency c-section and they never asked us for the certificate before they wheeled me into the operating room. It was a very informative class though.

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
I didnt take the class. Its up to your OB. I asked him if I really had to take it and he winked at me and said you did right!!!
ETA - My OB said he would never not let a DH in for a Section!!!!
Also It is still mandatory but your OB is the one that would ask if you took the class and not let your DH in so talk to them about it.

Re: C-Section class at Good Sam
I took it in '09 as well, because it was 'mandatory' but they never asked to see the certificate or anything.
