1st appointment at 7-8. weeks. what to expect?
Would any of you mind sharing what your 7-8 week appointments were like?
I asked the office and they said its mainly for my physical and "plan of care". No sono or anything, they said it's often too early to hear the heartbeat so they don't normally look for it because otherwise women flip out if they can't find it, so they usually look for it at 12 weeks. I feel like I've soon SO many sono pics from the 7-8wk period and with me being high-risk, wouldn't they want to do one?
Help!

Re: 1st appointment at 7-8. weeks. what to expect?
I am surprised they wouldn't do a sono at 7-8 weeks...my OB did a transvag (internal wand) one with a wand to check things out. Saw the heartbeat and measurements which gave me a new EDD based on size.
The rest of the appt was giving 8 vials of blood, paperwork, answering and asking questions...oh an peeing in a cup too.

Hmm...maybe she will and the staff is wrong. Maybe I will email her and tell her that given my history of early losses, I'm going to continue to be a wreck until 12 weeks and I'd appreciate another alternative to what the nursing staff mentioned.

I have an appointment Monday and I think I will be 7.5 weeks. I have a sono scheduled first, and then a visit with the doctor and some bloodwork.

I had a sono at my 7week appt. Bloodwork, urine and then answering questions... Due to my history i see my dr every 2 weeks as opposed to every 4...
Especially given your history they should def do a sono. Have you considered seeing a high risk dr instead?

I HAVE considered it...The problem is that I recently moved out of state and this was the 1st ob/gyn that I went to in order to get a RE referral in the area. They got me pregnant before I even saw the RE so I kind of feel like I don't want to now switch to someone else who will change what is working for me. But I'm highly nervous about this considering when I called with my 8 positive HPTs they told me to make an appt for 7-8 weeks and I said what about bloodwork? And they said, if you got a +, you are pregnant. ANd I said don't we want to make sure that my numbers are doubling? And they said it's not necessary, we will check everything at your 1st appointment...I really thought that this was totally normal protocol because it's what my RE's always did and now I'm so confused! Maybe I will start googling high-risk doctors in the area.

My first appointment with both pregnancies was around 7 weeks. It was an annual exam and I could ask a bunch of questions. I also got the paperwork to have blood work taken. I had a sono appointment about a week later.

this is around the time you can EXPECT to see the heartbeat. Ive def heard of waiting til 7-8wks for your 1st visit - but you should be getting a sono at the same time. I worked for an ob for 6yrs and i am still friends with the sono tech - she said u can safely expect to hear the HB at 7wks. Sometimes it happens earlier (i saw it at 6wks last time) but its hit or miss. also i really think your dr should be checking your bloodwork at least twice prior to that appt - once to get a preliminary hcg & progesterone and a 2nd time to make sure the #s are going up/stabilizing where they should, bc IF there is a prob they should be bringing u in sooner. Ur dr would make me very uncomfy

I had an internal sono (heard baby's heartbeat 156 beats ), pelvic exam, blood work and then she talked about other appointments, hospital affiliations, birth plans, medical history and things like that.
