If you've decorated a screened in porch
We have a 16x20 screened in porch. We would really like to spruce it up this coming season so Im looking for advice. Ive seen beautiful photos online but I don't know where to start and how to really get the look without spending a galizzion dollars. Im very good at decorating but when it comes to a specific theme of something, I am terrible. I was thinking kind of shabby shic/white curtains flowing, light, bright, beachy themed sort of but tranquil beachy not beach bar.
The current ceiling is a wood in a criss crossed designed. Thatched I think thats called. Then there is some siding showing in the screened in porch which obviously I want to leave alone, there is also wood on some places (bascially in between the screens and on the walls up top before reaching the ceiling. Then the floors are concrete.
This is what I thought to start by doing but if anyone has better ideas, please let me know!!
Floors- get light colored outdoors rugs (I am going to try to cover almost every inch of the floor though because I think the concrete is so ugly (and grey) but I might have trouble covering every inch??>? (we priced those squares of rubber floors and it would come to more than a 1000 bucks so thats out)
Ceiling- paint the wood a pale blue
Walls- where its wood- paint white
I was thinking either hanging white curtains or getting the pale wood bamboo outdoor shades- except I dont know if the bamboo fits the theme really.
Any help/photos, anything would be a huge help!
Oh- we have outdoor furniture in there on one side (a couch, 2 chairs, a coffee table). And a table with chairs to eat on the other side. There is also a fridge and a bakers rack in there which we don't want to remove. Also, there is a old ceiling fan which we plan to replace with one of those nice outdoorsy looking ceiling fans- we saw a bamboo looking one in white and then the same in brown. White didnt look as nice and would get really dirty but I think would add to brightening up the space.
The outdoors furniture is dark brown metal frame with medium tan cushions- I was thinking to get white pillows to lighten it all up.
