Doctor info
I made an appointment with Dr. Braverman but he is not covered by my insurance. I found some other doctors that are covered. Can anyone give me any info on the following doctors? I'm concerned I have immune issues.
Dr. Ellen Miller Dr. Steven Brenner Dr. David Rosenfield Dr. Hershlag
Thanks

Re: Doctor info
I'm not sure what kind of info you're looking for, but I can tell you about North Shore LIJ which is Hershlag, Cohen, Chu, Scholl, Mullin, and Rausch (did i forget anyone?) I love them. Their staff is friendly, you see a doctor at each appointment, billing is straight forward and simple, and they are just thorough and great in my opinion. I also have friends who have gone to Dr. Brenner and loved him, too.
Each person has a different experience at each place. Remember though, that these are reproductive endocrinologists, not immunologists.
I learned that no matter what the diagnosis, they start with meds, iui, iui, iui, iui, iui........ then IVF. Sometimes, in all of these "tries" they find something. Sometimes they don't. So the remedy will be IVF no matter where you go. For support, this is definitely the plac you go!

Re: Doctor info
If you are concerned you have immune issues, Dr.Hershlag is not your guy.... He does not "believe" in them. However, I did meet with him and he did seem very warm and knowledgeable.
Good luck!

Re: Doctor info
from what I understand you can see another doctor but work with dr. braverman regarding the immune issues. if you have out of network benefits he accepts those. Good luck

Re: Doctor info
I went to LI-IVF before seeing Dr. Braverman. I didn't see Dr. Brenner though... but my first IVF cycle I did I got pg but the #'s were never "right"... they continued to double but were never within the range that made them happy (extremely low to start). They made me take methotrexate to abort the pregnancy and they took 2 or 3 vials of blood for "TN bloods"... they sent it to a dr in TN I believe and it took a month to get the results back, which showed I had nothing wrong. I then had 2 other cycles with positives at home but negative by beta and was told that it was just a fluke thing... I finally left b/c that wasn't a good enough answer for me. To my knowledge Dr. Braverman is the only RI on the island, though I could be wrong. If you have out of network benefits you should get a lot of the $ back I would think. IMO LI-IVF barely skimmed the surface on my testing... my first appt w/ Dr. Braverman he ordered over 30 vials of blood to be drawn. Within a week I found out I had a clotting disorder as well as some other issues. If you really think you have immune issues, I would contact his office and find out if they can look into your benefits to see what would/wouldn't be covered and what % you'd be responsible for. If he's not covered can you go to your regular dr. and ask for a Thrombophelia panel to be run to start with? HTH!

Re: Doctor info
Yes, dr b is the only RI. And hershlag definitely doesn't believe in immune issues. I never checked if they will treat you there and let you see dr b for immune monitoring. I didn't care for hershlag so I left. I think dr b has a fee you pay to be monitored. As far as i know, other REs will treat you while being treated by dr b.
SIRM in NYC also treats immune, but is a trek there if you are from LI.
How do you know you have immune issues? You should have it checked. The testing might be covered. I'm not sure if you would need to go through dr b to have it done. That way you know.

Re: Doctor info
Thanks everyone.
My primary care mentioned being tested for immune issues on my last visit because some of my old issues are coming back.
I really appreciate all your support.
