Kinda sad now that I didn't really have a big shower the first time around and that was my one short...

When I had my ds I was so excited. I started registering before I was suppose to and hid the registry under an altered name.
Well, my mother decided she was going to have my shower at 37 weeks even though I told her I really wanted it more around 32 weeks so I could enjoy it.
Then she starts stressing me out because she wants to have it at a restaurant AND she wants my MIL to pay for half of it because my sisters MIL volunteered half when my sister had hers. I was mortified, my sisters MIL offered, its kinda weird that she calls up my MIL and is telling my MIL what to do. I fought her on the restaurant and got her to do MIL's house.
But then she starts naming friends of hers who I didn't want there and haven't seen in years. At that point, I said thats it, no more shower.
Well my mother in law felt bad for me. It was my first kid and their first grandkid and she didn't want me to miss out, so she invited her family to her house at 34 weeks and we ended up being 7(different from my bridal shower of 40). It was nice, but in my head I envisioned cake instead of brownies, a dinner spread instead of chicken divan, and (greedily I admit) a big stack of gifts instead of 7 boxes. IL's did order ALOT of stuff off my registry but it didn't ship in time so they got some clothes for that day.
AND... for my mother who wanted my shower at 37 weeks..... At 35 weeks(Easter) my feet started swelling, just before 36 weeks I was put on bedrest out of work, and 36w 1day I was induced for my preeclampsia.. the shower wouldn't have happened.
